Meet Dr. David Hansen

Dr. Hansen is a native of Waterloo. He grew up across the street from an uncle who was a dentist. Young David would often accompany his uncle when he was called in on the weekend and at night to observe patient treatment. It was these experiences that influenced and inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry. Undergraduate and dental school were completed at the University of Iowa graduating from dental school in 1986. After graduation Dr. Hansen practiced general dentistry in Parkersburg just west of Waterloo. During his eight years of general dentistry he discovered that he had keen interest and aptitude for endodontics. The technical aspects of this part of dentistry as well as the reward of relieving a patient’s pain led him to apply to graduate endodontic programs to specialize in endodontics. He was accepted for endodontic specialty training at the University of Minnesota College of Dentistry in 1994. His endodontic specialty certificate as well as a Master of Science degree were earned in 1996. Dr. Hansen has been practicing endodontics in Iowa City since 1996. First in solo practice and then in group practice after forming the current Endodontic Associates of Iowa practice in 2005.

Dr. Hansen has been married to his wife, Jayne, since 1988. They have two children currently attending the University of Iowa. With Hawkeye season tickets since 1978 living within walking distance of Kinnick stadium was a priority when the Hansen’s moved to Iowa City. David and Jayne enjoy travel and annual visits to Napa Valley to explore their interest in viticulture and wine.
